Urban planning, engineering-geological and reconstruction-building conditions, technological possibilities of underground parkings in the historical built-up part of the city on the example of specific objects of the Central Administrative District of St. Petersburg are analyzed. An analytical approach to the assessment of risks and cumulative factors affecting the choice of the shoring excavation technology, construction of an underground structure under the tight conditions is proposed. As the main geotechnical approach, the calculation and numerical simulation of the engineering situation is used with the use of a program complex PLAXIS. On the basis of geotechnical justification the conditions making it possible to provide safety of geotechnical and construction works when constructing one-, two-, or multi-level underground parkings in the yard area of the residential historic buildings are considered. The performed studies show the high economic efficiency of construction of the underground car park when restoring and adapting the object of cultural heritage for the present use in the historical center of Saint-Petersburg.
