AbstractAbout AuthorsReferences
Karst processes – the processes of dissolution of rocks by surface and groundwater in Moscow are associated with the presence of permeable and soluble carbonate rocks of coal age in the section of a powerful thickness (over 300 m). In most of Moscow, coal deposits are covered with a powerful waterproof layer of Jurassic clays, Quaternary loams, except for rather narrow areas in the Central and Western parts of the city, the valleys of the Moscow river and the Yauza river, where coal deposits lie under well-permeable Quaternary sands, and where karst processes at depth can lead to the formation of dangerous dips and uneven subsidence of the earth’s surface. Assessment of the stability of the soil massif and the forecast of formation of sinkholes and uneven subsidence of the earth’s surface should be carried out by a comprehensive study of geological and hydro-geological conditions of the territory, the nature of anthropogenic impacts using computational models, stationary, regime observations. The solution of the problem of karst-suffusion hazard in Moscow according to normative documents as part of engineering-geological surveys is almost impossible for a number of reasons: a short time of work execution, administrative (research within the design boundaries) and financial constraints. At the same time, an assessment express method is proposed, which makes it possible to obtain reliable information about the karst-suffusion hazard in a short time, more approximate to reality than the assignment of the category of stability of the karst territory using calculation methods for which the diameter of the karst hole is always greater than zero.
